SETTLING IN TO NEW BIRTH DAY NURSERY
Settling in to New Birth Day Nursery
When you child Nursery, they will have a settling in period. Every child is unique and some children will settle into nursery more quickly than others. We understand that this process can be difficult for both the child and for the parents but our staff will be there to make the process as stress free and comfortable for all. They will help your child feel happy, safe and comfortable without you.

We offer 3 FREE (1 hour) settling in sessions for every child. If you feel that your child may need longer to settle then please let us know as additional sessions can be provided and charged at our hourly rate. 

On your child’s first settling in session, your child will need to be accompanied by their parent or carer who will stay with them throughout the session. It is a time which allows your child to meet their assigned key worker, who will help you and your child get familiar with the setting. children they will be in nursery with and to see their new environment. We are happy for younger siblings to be with you during this time. 

On your child’s second day at nursery, you will be asked to leave for about 10 minutes (usually to fill in forms in the office). This enables staff to observe how well your child copes with being separated from you. Staff will talk to you at this point about how to continue with your child’s settling in. 

Our settling in process has had to be adapted due to the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure we are minimising visitors into the setting while children are attending. Settling in sessions will not be held inside the nursery premises, and depending on the weather, may be held in our secure nursery garden. We will contact you to let you know how best to proceed with settling in. All registration forms will be sent out to you electronically.
